5 Generations Bakers launches new beer with local partners
5 Generations Bakers, producer of Jenny Lee Swirl Breads, has teamed with two other local companies to create a new beer featuring its Apple Swirl Bread.
Abjuration Brewing Co. and Allegheny Mountain Malt provided the brewing ingredients, equipment and expertise for “Spiced Apple Swirl,” a cinnamon-spiced sour apple ale made with Jenny Lee Apple Swirl Bread.
The beer will make its debut Sept. 26 during an outdoor Oktoberfest celebration from 2 to 6 p.m. at Jenny Lee Breakfast Nook, 1014 Broadhead Road in Moon Township.
“Beer is technically ‘liquid bread,’ and we’ve been wanting to try another brewing partnership for a long time,” said Scott Baker, president and CEO of 5 Generations Bakers.
“It was so exciting to be on hand at Abjuration and personally add loaves of our Jenny Lee Apple Swirl bread to the initial mash.”
The collaboration also has a strong West Hills connection. Abjuration Brewing is based on Broadway in the West Park, while 5 Generations Bakers sells its products nationally but describes itself as a hometown company.
The Sept. 26 event will feature Spiced Apple Swirl and other Abjuration beers, German-themed food from Jenny Lee Breakfast Nook, soft drinks and live music by Accordions Likely and The Button Band.
Admission is $10 and includes a first beer. A $5 ticket includes a soft drink. All ages are welcome.
