Jake Johnson’s 17 points led Our Lady of the Sacred Heart to a 56-35 boys basketball win over Union. In girls basketball, Quaker Valley’s Mimi Thiero scored 38 points, defeating OLSH 49-30. Other games included Mohawk’s close win against Sto-Rox and South Fayette’s triumph over Montour.

Boyce Park will open its winter facilities for skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing on Saturday, Dec. 20, pending weather conditions. Various areas will be accessible, while the South Park Ice Rink will also open that day, with North Park delayed due to maintenance.

Eduardo Benitez led Cornell to a 54-52 basketball victory over Brashear with 26 points, including crucial free throws in the final seconds. In another boys game, Brentwood defeated Carlynton. In girls play, Shaler edged Moon Area, Geibel Catholic topped Bishop Canevin and Fort Cherry defeated Carlynton.

Moon Area’s boys basketball team defeated Obama Academy 52-38, led by Jackson Bauman’s 14 points. The team improved to 4-1. In other games, OLSH whipped Laurel, 62-49, behind Tiernan McCullough’s 21 points and 18 from Frankie Igrec while Montour and Cornell both lost.

Three men are awaiting a court hearing on charges that they raped and sexually assaulted two teenage girls at a home in Kennedy Township over the weekend. The three were being held in the Allegheny County Jail Tuesday after bail was denied following their arrest Monday.

Pennsylvania American Water is initiating a $2 million project in Crafton and Green Tree to replace nearly one mile of outdated water mains. This upgrade aims to enhance water reliability and flow for approximately 125 customers, with completion projected for spring 2026.
