Reese Keslar and Avery Machusko scored three goals each, leading Moon to a 13-7 win over Norwin in the WPIAL Class 3A girls lacrosse quarterfinals, advancing to face Pine-Richland in the semifinals.
Bishop Canevin secured a 5-0 victory over Rochester in the opening round of the WPIAL Class 1A baseball tournament, highlighted by Kole Olszewski's dominant pitching performance. The Crusaders advance to face Greensburg Central Catholic next. In softball action, both Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and Cornell lost.
Shaler dominated Montour 8-0 in the Spartans' WPIAL Class 5A baseball tournament opener, fueled by Colby Weber's stellar pitching and a seven-run second inning, highlighted by Landon Schiffhauer's homer. Shaler’s strong offense and Weber's strikeouts crushed Montour's chances.
The Montour Spartans, seeded No. 14, will debut in the 2025 WPIAL Class 5A Baseball Tournament against Shaler, the tournament's No. 3 seed. Spartans coach Bob Janeda is optimistic about the team's future despite challenges.
West Hills athletes will compete at Wednesday's 2025 WPIAL Track & Field Championships, with significant representation from Moon Area, Montour, Carlynton, and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, showcasing numerous highly ranked competitors across events.
Penn-Trafford defeated Moon Area, 5-3, in the WPIAL Class 3A softball tournament Monday, highlighted by a four-run second inning. Moon's season ended despite a strong performance, managing to narrow the gap to one run in the third inning.
