County authorities identify victim in Stowe Township shooting

Allegheny County authorities have released the identity of a man who was shot and killed in Stowe Township early Saturday morning.

The man was identified as Shane Lee Shank, 37, according to a report from the county Medical Examiner. No hometown was listed for Shank, and the time of death was listed as 3:57 a.m. Saturday, July 25.

No further information was available on the incident, which is being investigated by county Police detectives, a county spokesperson said Monday.

According to an earlier report from the county police Homicide Unit, at 3:01 a.m. Saturday, July 25, county 911 was notified of a shooting that occurred in Derby Alley, behind the 800 block of Broadway Avenue.

First responders found a male victim later identified as Shank suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Preliminary information shows that a male fled from the scene shortly after the incident occurred.
