Deluzio: Area Congressman pens debut column for West Hills Gazette

I’m Chris Deluzio, and it’s been the honor of my lifetime to represent you and Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District in Congress since you first elected me in 2022. Our district includes the West Hills, along with about half of Allegheny County and all of Beaver County.

Thank you to the West Hills Gazette for creating this new column, Deluzio Download. I’m looking forward to giving you a monthly lowdown on what I’m working on in Washington, how I’m fighting for all of us in Western Pennsylvania, and local events and initiatives I’m hosting in your neck of the woods.

To introduce myself: I was born and raised in Thornburg and am a proud alum of Ingram Elementary and Bishop Canevin High School. I live in Allegheny County with my wife and four young kids. My path to public service began when I attended the U.S. Naval Academy after the attacks on Sept. 11 during my senior year of high school. As an officer in the Navy, I served and led Americans at sea and on the ground in Iraq. I’ve worked as a lawyer to defend our elections, and on cybersecurity issues and helped to organize a union alongside steelworkers.

In Congress, I serve on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. A key policy focus of mine is taking on corruption and the corporate power that is crushing small businesses, ripping all of us off, making life expensive, and corrupting our government. I believe in a government of, by and for the people that serves the common good and acts boldly to restore the American dream. I’m willing to work with anybody, no matter your political party, who wants to make this great country of ours even better — but I never shy away from a righteous fight.

Here at home, my staff and I are focused on making sure our government works for the good people of Western Pennsylvania. As of this writing, we’ve secured over $3.1 billion in federal grants and funding for projects in our district. We’ve returned $9.2 million directly to constituents through things like tax refunds and earned benefits. And we’ve closed 2,644 constituent casework files to help Western Pennsylvanians fix any number of issues they’re having with federal agencies, including Social Security, the Veterans Administration and more.

My office and I are here to serve you. My flagship office is nearby in Carnegie — please always feel free to give us a call at 412-344-5583 and we’ll be happy to try and help.

If you’d like to keep up more regularly with my work, please sign up for my e-newsletter here, or follow me on social media—I’m on Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly twitter), Threads, Bluesky, and YouTube.

Serving and staying connected to the folks I represent is what I’m all about. I hope this new Deluzio Download column helps do that, and I’m looking forward to keeping in touch!

Very respectfully,

Chris Deluzio

Member of Congress
