One of Pittsburgh’s most beloved Irish musicians, Stowe Twp. native Mike Gallagher, passed away last March. Gallagher performed throughout the region for more than 50 years and had the distinction of being the only musician to perform in every Pittsburgh Irish Festival since its inception in 1991. A stalwart at Mullaney’s Harp & Fiddle, Gallagher hailed from a large musical family. Every one of his three brothers and four sisters sing, as do most of their offspring.
On Saturday, November 15th – 8pm, this large musical family will present GallagherFest at Mullaney’s – to celebrate the life of Mike Gallagher, and perform many of the songs he was known for in his long musical career. Featured performers include Mike’s son Johnny, and his nephew Luke Gallagher, both professional musicians, along with many of Mike’s nieces and nephews, and a rare performance by The Gallagher Brothers. Admission is free, but reservations are recommended. Call 412-642-6622.
