The Allegheny County Health Department is hosting a series of overdose prevention pop-up events featuring free opioid-overdose antidote naloxone and other materials for distribution.
Locally, the health department will be in Stowe Township on Tuesday, Oct. 3 from noon to 4 p.m. at 901 Gray St. in the Meyers Ridge neighborhood.
The pop-up events are a result of payouts by major drug manufacturers as part of national opioid settlements.
Allegheny County received $8 million in 2022 from the fi rst wave of settlements; $6.9 million of which went to the Department of Human Services, $160,000 was given to Prevention Point Pittsburgh and $1.2 million went to the Department of Children Initiatives.
Another $74 million is scheduled to be released over the next 18 years from the original settlement.
