The Sto-Rox School District will partner with Seneca Valley School District beginning in the 2026-27 school year to expand virtual learning opportunities for students through a redesigned online education program, district officials announced earlier this week.
The updated Virtual Vikings Program will provide students with both live and self-paced instruction through courses taught by certified teachers from Seneca Valley. District officials said the program will include the same level of coursework available to traditional students, including Advanced Placement classes.
Under the program, students will be required to check in daily for attendance purposes but will have flexibility in managing their schedules as long as assignments are completed on time.
Sto-Rox officials said the district also has appointed a Virtual Vikings coordinator to oversee the program and assist participating students and families.
Students enrolled in the online program will remain part of the Sto-Rox district community and will graduate with a Sto-Rox diploma, according to the announcement.
District officials said virtual students also will continue to have access to extracurricular activities and support services, including athletics, Student Council, tutoring, after-school programs and career and technical education through Parkway West Career and Technology Center.
Additional services available to virtual learners will include support through Pittsburgh Area Community Schools and Pressley Ridge counseling services.
Enrollment for the revamped Virtual Vikings Program will open Aug. 1 for the 2026-27 school year.

In other news, Sto-Rox’s Junior/Senior High School, Upper Elementary and Primary Center have been named as full partner schools with The Education Partnership for the 2026–2027 school year.
Through this partnership, Sto-Rox students and staff will have access to valuable resources, including school supplies, classroom materials, STEAM opportunities, professional development and more.
The Education Partnership is a nonprofit entity that has served nearly 375,000 students in 201 schools since organizing in 2011.
The partnership serves Pre-K through 12th-grade schools in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties. Schools in these counties are eligible if 70% or more of their student population qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
