Traffic disruptions anticipated from four West Hills road projects
Four separate projects could slow down West Hills motorists over the coming days and weeks – and in one case, nearly a year.
The state Department of Transportation said Thursday that bridge inspection activities on I-376 in Robinson Township will occur Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 1-2, weather permitting.
Inspection work at the Rosslyn Farms off-ramp (Exit 74B) from westbound I-376 will limit traffic to a single lane in each direction on I-376 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. The ramp will remain open as work occurs.
Another interstate-related project will bring about single-lane and shoulder restrictions Saturday on I-79 and associated Route 60 and I-376 interchange ramps in Robinson and Kennedy townships. Mobile single-lane and shoulder restrictions will occur from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday to allow crews to conduct roadway patching evaluation and survey work in the following locations:
- I-79 in both directions between the Route 60 Moon Run/Crafton (Exit 60 A/B) and the I-376 Airport/Pittsburgh (Exit 59 A/B) interchanges
- All I-79 ramps at the I-376 Airport/Pittsburgh (Exit 59A/B) interchange
- All I-79 ramps at the Route 60 Moon Run/Crafton (Exit 60 A/B) interchange
- All I-376 ramps at the I-79 Erie/Washington (Exit 64A) interchange
A third project that could impact local motorists is a gas line repair project on West Steuben Steet (Route 60) in Crafton.
That project will require single-lane alternating traffic on West Steuben Street between Woodmere Drive and Walsh Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Monday, Aug. 3, and continuing daily as needed through late November as crews repair Peoples Natural Gas lines.

The fourth and final local project is a long-term shoulder closure on Route 22/30/60 (Steubenville Pike/Lincoln Highway) that will begin Tuesday, Aug. 4, weather permitting, and continue through June 2027.
Starting at approximately 6 a.m. Tuesday, temporary barriers will be placed, requiring the following long-term shoulder closures through late June 2027:
- The spur shoulder from eastbound Route 22/30/60 to eastbound I-376
- The ramp shoulder from eastbound I-376 to eastbound Route 22/30/60
- The ramp shoulder from eastbound Route 22/30/60 to westbound I-376
All ramps and spurs will remain open.
Additionally, in order to install temporary barriers in preparation for the previously mentioned work, one of the two left turn lanes from eastbound Route 22/30/60 guiding traffic to the ramp to westbound I-376 will close to traffic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday. Traffic will still have access to a single left turn lane.
On this $57.93 million project, the existing I-376 Parkway West/Route 22/30/60 interchange in Robinson will be reconfigured into District 11’s first Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) partial cloverleaf interchange. The DDI will improve existing and future traffic flow, operations, queuing and safety on I-376, associated ramps and Route 60.
Work includes bridge replacement, road and ramp reconstruction, slope treatment, drainage improvements, traffic signals upgrades, signing and pavement markings installation, and highway lighting updates.
Restrictions include long-term traffic shifts on I-376, closures and detours on interchange ramps, long-term single-lane restrictions on Route 22/30, and closures and detours on Route 22/30 for bridge demolition, and the erection of new bridges. The overall project is expected to conclude in the fall of 2029.
