Evan Thomas netted two goals while Aedan Costa, Stephen Carvajal, Fin Dengel and Zech Balbach each scored once for Moon.

The victory, which was Moon’s 19th straight without a loss this season, moves the Tigers into the tournament quarterfinals Wednesday, Oct. 23, at home against ninth-seeded Hampton.

The Talbots advanced with a 2-1 overtime win over West Allegheny Saturday.

Montour, which entered the Class 3A tournament as the No. 12 seed, was eliminated with a 3-2 loss to No. 5 seed Bethel Park. The Spartans finished their season 9-9 overall.

In the Class A tournament, West Hills area schools won one and lost one.

Third-seeded Our Lady of the Sacred Heart used Brady Hernandez’s overtime goal to advance with a 1-0 win over No. 14 seed Freedom at West Allegheny, while No. 10 seed Carlynton was eliminated in a 2-1 overtime loss to No. 7 seed Eden Christian Academy at Moon.

OLSH, which won the Class A Section 3 crown, improved to 13-2 with its win Saturday while Carlynton ended its season with a 12-7 record.
