The Athletes of Action Memorial Scholarship Luncheon, now in its 14th year, has evolved from a modest start to a celebrated fundraising event. Held on April 5, it supports scholarships for scholar-athletes from Montour and Sto-Rox high schools. Since its inception, it has awarded $81,000, positively impacting numerous students.
McKees Rocks will host WQED's 11th annual Be My Neighbor Day Saturday, March 22, focused on fostering community connections and resilience. The event features various activities, including interactive exhibits, ethnic foods and a meet-and-greet with Daniel Tiger. It emphasizes celebrating the community's strengths and promoting kindness among neighbors.
A 31-year-old woman faces misdemeanor assault and child endangerment charges for allegedly striking a 10-year-old female student with special needs at Sto-Rox Upper Elementary School on Oct. 24. Authorities filed the charges after reviewing video evidence, which they said corroborates a witness's report.
A golf outing to honor the memory of a former Sto-Rox teacher and coach has benefited the school district to the tune of $7,000.
