Moon Area's girls soccer team defeated Fort LeBouef 2-1, led by Maddie Shaver and Ally D'Alesio's goals. In boys soccer, Moon Area and Montour also secured victories while Seton La Salle defeated Bishop Canevin, 22-7, in WPIAL football action Saturday night.

Matthew Koch's 2-under-par 33 led Moon Area to a boys golf victory over Montour 202-204, improving their record to 6-1. Meanwhile, Moon's girls golf won 189-201 against Trinity, with both Schild and Marasco scoring 44. Volleyball and boys soccer also reported results.

High school football preview: Moon, Montour square off in Week 1 showdown

Montour and Moon will face off in a non-section football matchup Friday at 7 p.m. after both secured close wins in their season openers. Other games include Carlynton, Cornell, Sto-Rox and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, all starting simultaneously. Bishop Canevin plays Saturday.

Carlynton's girls soccer team began the season with a scoreless tie against Trinity, showcasing strong performances by Bella D’Antonio, Riley Mauro, and Bean Eitel. Meanwhile, Montour narrowly defeated Latrobe, and Archbishop Ryan bested Moon Area.

Matthew Koch and Chris Brown led Moon Area to a 187-193 victory in golf, each scoring 36. Meanwhile, OLSH improved to 4-0 with a 205-212 win, and Moon Area's girls tennis team faced defeats against North Hills and Winchester Thurston.
