County police investigating fatal hit-and-run in Kennedy

A 72-year-old McKees Rocks man was struck and killed by a vehicle on Pine Hollow Road in Kennedy Township early Friday morning, Allegheny County Police reported.

The department’s Homicide Unit responded to a request for assistance at 12:15 a.m, after county 9-1-1 was notified of a male down on the roadway in the 1600 block of Pine Hollow Road.

The man, later identified by the county Medical Examiner as Wayne McGinley, was discovered by a Kennedy Township police officer on patrol. McGinley was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:47 a.m. Friday.

Detectives initiated an investigation, and preliminary information showed McGinley was struck by a vehicle which fled the scene. Detectives are working to determine the make and model of the vehicle.
