Our Lady of the Sacred Heart posted dual wins Tuesday, claiming a 5-2 victory over Brentwood in baseball and a 5-3 win over Fort Cherry in softball. Montour also was victorious on the softball diamond, beating Chartiers Valley.
Montour’s Jonah Camardese reaches the WPIAL Class 2A Section 2 boys tennis singles finals, facing champion Max Henson. Previously a doubles winner, Camardese advanced by defeating three opponents, while teammate Trey Varga lost to Henson. Bishop Canevin won in girls softball and OLSH prevailed in boys volleyball.
Montour's baseball team defeated Connellsville, 8-0, Tuesday with Michael Ivanoff pitching a complete-game shutout. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart beat Carlynton, 10-0 and Bishop Canevin blanked Monessen 15-0. In softball, Montour, Moon and Bishop Canevin all won while Sto-Rox and Moon claimed flag football wins. OLSH prevailed in boys volleyball.
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart defeated Carlynton 8-3 in a WPIAL Class 2A baseball game, with Ryan DeNinno excelling on the mound. In other games, Bishop Canevin, Montour, and Moon Area also secured victories, while all four West Hills softball teams that saw action went down to defeat.
Leann Walzer had three hits and drove in a run and Sophia Wasko added two hits and an RBI but it wasn't enough as Our Lady of the Sacred Heart fell, 11-7, in softball action. In track, Carlynton's athletes excelled, with several first-place finishes in both boys' and girls' events.
West Hills high school baseball teams had a tough time Thursday. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart lost 13-7 to Steel Valley, Montour fell 9-0 to Canon-McMillan, and Moon Area narrowly lost 12-11 to Thomas Jefferson after a last-inning rally. Carlynton won its softball game while Moon dominated in flag football and OLSH prevailed in boys volleyball
