Zachary Ciamacco keyed a three-run second inning with a two-run single, propelling Montour to a 5-3 victory over visiting Knoch Monday in a WPIAL non-section baseball game.
Montour added two runs in the fourth inning and took a 5-0 lead into the sixth before Knoch finally got on the board with three runs.
A bases-loaded walk and Michael Ivanoff’s sacrifice fly accounted for Montour’s two fourth-inning runs.
Montour starter Gavin Foley worked five shutout innings and gave up just one hit and no walks while striking out two.
Ivanoff finished with two hits to lead Montour’s seven-hit attack.
Trinity 10, Moon Area 4
Ayvari Chandler went 4 for 4 and knocked in a run and Derek Falvo had two hits and three RBIs to power the Hillers to a Class 5A Section 2 win over the visiting Tigers.
Trinity scored four times in the first inning, but the Tigers responded with three runs in the second, two coming on a misplayed bunt and another on a bases-loaded walk.
But Trinity starter Karson Hathaway settled down on the mound and allowed only one run the rest of the way. Trinity, meanwhile, added on a run in the second, four more in the fifth and one in the sixth to seal the win.
No one had more than one hit for the Tigers, who had just four hits in all. Jayden Bittner drove in a run with a sacrifice fly for Moon.
Riverview 11, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 0
A nine-run outburst in the bottom of the sixth inning turned a close Class 2A, Section 3 contest into an easy win for the Raiders.
Rex Roberts belted a bases-clearing double and Owen Metz tripled in a pair of runs for Riverview.
OLSH managed just four hits off Metz, who went the distance and walked two while striking out two.
Dean Douglass had two hits for OLSH while Chad Minton and Bruno Williams each added one.
Quaker Valley 17, Sto-Rox 0
Rocco Fardo had a hit and drove in three runs to power the Quakers past the Vikings in a Class 3A Section 1 contest at Sto-Rox.
Todd Kagle had two hits and drove in two runs while Brad Semonik had a double and knocked in two runs.
Sto-Rox did not manage a hit in the three-inning game.
SOFTBALL
Montour 4, Blackhawk 3
Caylee Moser’s RBI single snapped a 3-3 tie in the fifth inning and sent the Spartans to a non-section victory over the visiting Cougars.
Montour trailed 3-1 entering the bottom of the fifth before rallying to go ahead.
Cayley Hughes delivered a sacrifice fly for the first run of the inning and Emmy Ellis scored on a passed ball to tie the score at 3-3. Moser then followed with her game-winning hit, which scored Paige Fiedler.
Hughes also accounted for the Spartans first run of the game on a first-inning sacrifice fly.
Emily McClean accounted for three of Montour’s nine hits while Moser and Ellis each added two.
Moon 1, West Mifflin 0
Katie DeMarco fired a two-hit shutout and the Tigers’ lone run scored on fourth-inning error as they edged the host Titans in a non-section game.
DeMarco walked six and struck out five in going the distance on the mound.
Brooklyn Hall and Alina McMahon each had two hits for Moon, which outhit West Mifflin 9-2.
Hall’s one-out single started the fourth-inning rally and courtesy runner Julissa Diaz came all the way around to score when Courtney Shuman’s line drive was misplayed for an error. That gave Moon the only run it would need.
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 16, Shady Side Academy 1
Mya Eshenbaugh collected three hits and drove in four runs and the Chargers pounded out 15 hits in just three innings in overpowering the Bulldogs in a non-section game.
Eshenbaugh had plenty of help, as Sydney Trippe went 3 for 3 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Sophia Wasko had three hits and drove in two and scored four times while Camryn Hummel went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Wasko went all three innings on the mound and gave up a hit and a run for OLSH.
Carlynton 21, Cornell 8
Danica DeCecco collected two triples and a double and drove in five runs as the Cougars downed the Raiders in a non-section game at Cornell.
Sara Loney went 4 for 4 with two doubles, scored five runs and drove in three for Carlynton, which outhit Cornell 18-2 in the five-inning contest. Ava Kimberling and Ava Barber each had three hits and drove in three runs while Kaycie Chapman added three hits for the Cougars.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
South Fayette 3, Montour 0
The Lions posted a sweep of their Class 2A Section 4 match with the Spartans, winning by set scores of 25-18, 25-23, 25-23.
Wyatt Bucek tallied seven kills and a block for Montour while Gaige Schoff had six kills, eight digs and one ace. Owen Ireland contributed 13 digs and Chris Burk had three kills and three blocks.
Canon-McMillan 3, Moon Area 0
The Big Macs swept the Tigers, 26-16, 25-14, 25-14, in a non-section match that closed out the season for Moon.
BOYS RUGBY
Elizabethtown 38, Moon Area 12
The Bears downed the Tigers Sunday in the quarterfinals of the boys Rugby Pennsylvania Spring 2026 Playoffs.
Elizabethtown was the No. 2 seed in the eight-team tournament and the No. 1 representative from the Susquehanna Conference.
Moon Area came in as the eighth seed and the No. 2 rep from the Allegheny Conference.
Tyler Smith and Aydan Clegg were the players of the game for Moon.
