PIAA basketball: Three West Hills teams prepare for state tournament openers

Three West Hills high school basketball teams are set to compete in the PIAA championships after long layoffs. Moon Area and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (OLSH) girls play Friday, while OLSH boys host Conemaugh Township Saturday. All three teams seek to advance beyond tough opponents.

WPIAL basketball: OLSH boys rebound to edge Clairton in Class 2A third-place game

Tiernan McCullough led Our Lady of the Sacred Heart with 14 points and 15 rebounds, sealing a 47-43 victory over Clairton in the WPIAL Class 2A tournament's third-place game. The win improved OLSH's record to 21-5 going into next week's PIAA tournament.

West Hills swimmers set to compete this week at WPIAL Championships

More than two dozen competitors will represent the West Hills at the WPIAL Swimming Championships Thursday and Friday, Feb. 26-27, at the University of Pittsburgh's Trees Pool. Cornell, Carlynton, Moon and Montour will be represented, with Carlynton Evey Fahnestock and Cornell's Mimi Chamberlain and Noah Pickett looking to medal again.

WPIAL basketball: OLSH boys, girls come up short against Sewickley Academy, Quaker Valley

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart's boys and girls basketball teams faced tough opponents in the WPIAL Tournament, with the boys losing 56-30 to Sewickley Academy and the girls falling 41-25 to Quaker Valley. Both teams will continue their seasons.

Brothers Jackson and Brody Bauman scored a combined 29 points, leading Moon Area to a 57-43 win over Gateway in the WPIAL Class 5A quarterfinals. The victory advances Moon to face Chartiers Valley in the semifinals. In girls play, OLSH triumphed over Waynesburg Central to reach Monday night's fifth-place game.

WPIAL boys basketball: OLSH turns to defense in quarterfinal win over Jefferson-Morgan

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart's boys basketball team secured a 41-28 win over Jefferson Morgan Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the WPIAL Class 2A tournament at Peters Township, showcasing strong defense. The Chargers will face Sewickley Academy in Monday night's semifinals at a time and location to be determined.

WPIAL basketball: OLSH girls fall in quarterfinals to Greensburg Central Catholic

Erica Gribble's 25 points, including nine in the crucial third quarter, propelled Greensburg Central Catholic to a 57-42 win over Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in the WPIAL Class 3A quarterfinals. Lola Garner scored 25 points to lead OLSH, which will play Friday in a consolation bracket game.
