Upcoming West Hills road work: What motorists need to know

A pair of road work projects scheduled for next week will impact motorists in two West Hills locations.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will implement a single-lane restriction on Route 22/30/60 (Steubenville Pike/Lincoln Highway) in Robinson Township starting Monday, Aug. 17, weather permitting.

And on Tuesday, inspection work will take place in the Stowe Tunnel in Stowe Township.

In Robinson, PennDOT will use single-lane restrictions on westbound Route 22/30/60 between Park Manor Drive and Montour Church Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day from Monday through Friday, Aug. 21.

Crews will be installing temporary conduit across the existing structure over I-376.

The work is part of a $57.93 million project in which the existing I-376 Parkway West/Route 22/30 interchange in Robinson Township will be reconfigured into District 11’s first Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) partial cloverleaf interchange.

The DDI will improve existing and future traffic flow, operations, queuing and safety on I-376, associated ramps and Route 60.

Work includes bridge replacement, roadway and ramp reconstruction, slope treatment, drainage improvements, traffic signals upgrades, signing and pavement markings installation, and highway lighting updates.

Restrictions include long-term traffic shifts on I-376, closures and detours on interchange ramps, long-term single-lane restrictions on Route 22/30, and closures and detours on Route 22/30 for bridge demolition, and the erection of new bridges. The overall project is expected to conclude in the fall of 2029.

For the work in Stowe Township, single-lane alternating traffic restrictions controlled by flaggers will occur between Ridge Avenue and Route 51 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday. Crews from GFT will conduct inspection activities requiring tunnel liner work.

Travelers can check conditions on major roads by visiting 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,200 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.

For the Diverging Diamond Interchange project in Robinson, PennDOT has created an email distribution list for Parkway West traffic advisories and construction updates. Enroll by sending email addresses to ymanyisha@pa.gov.
