Cameran Chambers’ RBI single led Moon Area to a 5-4 victory over Montour in a Class 5A Section 3 softball game. Cornell rolled to sweep of Rochester in softball while OLSH baseball and softball win.
Montour secured a 9-0 baseball victory over Central Valley Friday, led by Gavin Foley, Matteo Weber, and Zander Stern. The Spartans also achieved a 3-0 boys volleyball win against OLSH Thursday night.
Montour came from behind to defeat McKeesport 20-6, in WPIAL baseball action, aided by a six-run fourth inning. Other results included Our Lady of the Sacred Heart's 12-0 win and Bishop Canevin's 18-5 victory over Clairton. (Photos)
Chad Minton’s ground out in the sixth inning secured a 6-5 baseball victory for Our Lady of the Sacred Heart over South Side. Bishop Canevin, Montour rolled to easy victories while Moon Area, Carlynton and Sto-Rox all lost.
Macy Trost led Moon Area to a comeback victory over South Fayette, securing a 15-12 win despite being out-hit. The Tigers scored five runs in the sixth inning to pull out the win. OLSH rolled past Carlynton and in baseball both OLSH and Moon Area lost close games.
Both Moon Area lacrosse teams lost close matches against Canon-McMillan, with girls' team ending a five-game winning streak and boys holding a halftime lead but ultimately falling short.
The Moon Area boys lacrosse team overcame an early deficit to defeat Seton LaSalle 10-7 in a WPIAL Class 2A clash, with key contributions from multiple players and strong goaltending. In volleyball, the Tigers lost to Butler 3-0, with notable performances from Billy Sprott and Oliver Enos. Boys tennis player John Rohrkaste of Montour is set to compete in WPIAL Championships.
