Nick Machusko’s four hits and five RBIs propelled Moon Area to a 16-6 win over South Fayette in a WPIAL baseball game. Elsewhere in baseball, Carlynton won and Bishop Canevin came up short. Moon Area and OLSH claimed softball wins while Montour and OLSH posted volleyball victories.

Jackson Maddix led Bishop Canevin to a thrilling 9-8 victory over Sewickley Academy with two home runs and six RBIs. The team rallied in the final inning, scoring two runs to secure the win following a late surge from Sewickley Academy.

The Hounds, now 1-2, managed only two shots on goal. The team looks forward to its first home match at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Highmark Stadium against Steel City FC.

Matteo Weber’s three RBIs and Michael Ivanoff’s strong pitching led Montour to a 5-3 win over Silo Saturday in Florida. Washington overcame an 8-1 deficit to beat Bishop Canevin, while Quaker Valley secured a victory against Our Lady of the Sacred Heart.

Montour overcame a 12-5 deficit to defeat Union 13-12 in softball Thursday, with Alexa Richardson delivering the game-winning RBI. In other games, Moon Area trounced Mars 16-0, highlighted by Katie DeMarco’s stellar pitching, while Chartiers-Houston overwhelmed Bishop Canevin 20-1. Montour and OLSH prevailed in boys volleyball and Sto-Rox rolled in flag football.

The Moon Area boys volleyball team lost twice in consecutive nights, first to Hopewell and then North Hills, both in straight sets. Despite a strong start against North Hills, they couldn’t maintain momentum, leading to a disappointing sweep. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart opened its season with a win.
