High school roundup: Montour softball rallies to beat Union; Moon’s DeMarco nearly perfect

Montour overcame a 12-5 deficit to defeat Union 13-12 in softball Thursday, with Alexa Richardson delivering the game-winning RBI. In other games, Moon Area trounced Mars 16-0, highlighted by Katie DeMarco's stellar pitching, while Chartiers-Houston overwhelmed Bishop Canevin 20-1. Montour and OLSH prevailed in boys volleyball and Sto-Rox rolled in flag football.

The Moon Area boys volleyball team lost twice in consecutive nights, first to Hopewell and then North Hills, both in straight sets. High school roundup: Moon starts baseball season with gem; local swimmers compete at PIAA

The Moon Area baseball team began the season with a no-hitter, defeating Archbishop Carroll 11-0. At the PIAA Swim Championships three West Hills swimmers competed and one of them -- Mimi Chamberlain of Cornell -- finished 10th overall in the 200 individual medley and Noah Pickett of Cornell placed 12th overall in the 100 butterfly.
