Our Lady of the Sacred Heart's boys and girls basketball teams faced tough opponents in the WPIAL Tournament, with the boys losing 56-30 to Sewickley Academy and the girls falling 41-25 to Quaker Valley. Both teams will continue their seasons.
WPIAL wrestling: Walzer, Smarsh capture girls gold; Yanek earns boys crown
Three West Hills high school wrestlers won gold at the WPIAL championships: Kristen Walzer of Montour, and Haley Smarsh, and Cael Yanek, both from Moon. Others included Liam Costa, who placed second, and three others who finished third or fourth, all advancing to the PIAA Regionals.

Brothers Jackson and Brody Bauman scored a combined 29 points, leading Moon Area to a 57-43 win over Gateway in the WPIAL Class 5A quarterfinals. The victory advances Moon to face Chartiers Valley in the semifinals. In girls play, OLSH triumphed over Waynesburg Central to reach Monday night's fifth-place game.
WPIAL boys basketball: OLSH turns to defense in quarterfinal win over Jefferson-Morgan
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart's boys basketball team secured a 41-28 win over Jefferson Morgan Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the WPIAL Class 2A tournament at Peters Township, showcasing strong defense. The Chargers will face Sewickley Academy in Monday night's semifinals at a time and location to be determined.
WPIAL wrestling: Two West Hills girls look to defend titles; 15 boys hunt for medals
Saturday's WPIAL Girls Wrestling Championships at Mt. Lebanon High School will feature West Hills athletes Kristen Walzer and Haley Smarsh, both seeking to defend their titles. Class 2A and 3A boys tournaments will get underway Friday and continue Saturday. Carlynton, Montour and Moon wrestlers will partcipate.
WPIAL basketball: OLSH girls fall in quarterfinals to Greensburg Central Catholic
Erica Gribble's 25 points, including nine in the crucial third quarter, propelled Greensburg Central Catholic to a 57-42 win over Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in the WPIAL Class 3A quarterfinals. Lola Garner scored 25 points to lead OLSH, which will play Friday in a consolation bracket game.
WPIAL basketball tournament: Moon boys survive and advance; Montour, Bishop Canevin, Sto-Rox eliminated
Moon Area defeated Penn-Trafford 45-30 in the WPIAL Class 5A tournament, led by Jackson Bauman’s 20 points. Moon, now 19-3, will face Gateway in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Montour fell to Chartiers Valley, Bishop Canevin was upset by Shady Side Academy and Sto-Rox lost to Aliquippa.
