Raven Karlik from Montour secured her spot in the WPIAL Class 3A girls singles tennis tournament after a strong performance in the Section 2 tournament. Meanwhile, Moon Area’s girls soccer team achieved a resounding 6-0 victory over Trinity, showcasing impressive individual performances.
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart secured a 6-0 boys soccer victory over Brentwood, with Brady Hernandez and Owen Minzer scoring two goals each. Other results include Bishop Canevin's comeback win over Serra Catholic, Montour's shutout victory over West Allegheny and Moon Area's success in girls golf.
Carlynton girls soccer defeated Bishop Canevin 8-0 Monday, with Riley Mauro scoring twice. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart won 10-4 over South Side, led by Maribel Medwig's four goals. Moon Area and Montour also secured victories.
During the Red, White & Blue cross country meet, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart's girls placed fourth and boys took 12th overall, while Moon Area girls were ninth and boys 14th. Individual performances included notable finishes by Jules Goshen and Elise Ashcroft.
The Moon Area girls volleyball team won the Moon Invitational by defeating Trinity 25-22. In soccer, the Tigers suffered their first loss against Pine-Richland in overtime, ending with a record of 4-1-0. In cross country, Carlynton's Ethan Moldovan achieved third place.
The Pitt Panthers defeated Central Michigan 45-17, improving to 2-0. Eli Holstein passed for four touchdowns, demonstrating strong team chemistry, particularly with receiver Poppi Williams. The defense excelled, limiting CMU to 217 total yards and showcasing preparation for next week's Backyard Brawl showdown with West Virginia.
The Moon Area Tigers lost to Penn-Trafford 25-24 after squandering a 12-point lead late in the game. Despite strong efforts, including key plays by both teams, the Tigers failed to make critical plays when it mattered most.
