The Moon Area boys and girls swim teams continued to roll, as they posted easy victories over Quaker Valley Thursday. The Tigers return to action Saturday in the Jim Stacy Memorial Invitational.
High school basketball: Montour, Moon, OLSH boys post wins
Montour used exceptional free-throw shooting to claim a big win in a Class 5A Section 4 boys basketball matchup with Chartiers Valley. Moon kept pace by thrashing Lincoln Park, and in Class 2A action, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart came home a winner.

Moon coach Mike Muraco has a 25-wrestler roster to choose from this season, and that depth should pay dividends as the season unfolds. Haley Smarsh, the lone girl on the roster, is a standout.

The Montour boys basketball improved to 3-0 and handed Upper St. Clair its first loss of the season Saturday while in girls action, Bishop Canevin and Moon came away with victories.

Both the Montour and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart girls basketball teams came up winners Monday night, but the Moon girls and Bishop Canevin boys wound up on the losing end of things.

Moon Area needed an extra four minutes to top host Central Catholic at the Vikings' tournament Saturday while OLSH and Montour claimed victories. Carlynton went to overtime but came up short against Eden Christian.
