Eight West Hills high school basketball teams earned WPIAL Tournament spots, with Bishop Canevin, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and Sto-Rox placing both boys and girls teams in the playoffs. Other West Hills qualifiers are Moon Area and Montour in boys action.
Shae Trombetta scored 14 points as Our Lady of the Sacred Heart defeated Penn Hills 61-18 in a WPIAL girls basketball game. Canon-McMillan beat Montour, 55-44, while in boys action, Ringgold topped Montour, 72-60.
AJ Buford scored crucial points in overtime to lead Moon Area to a 48-45 victory over Montour, securing third place in WPIAL Class 5A Section 4. Montour also advanced to the playoffs despite the loss. Bishop Canevin won its Class 3A section outright while Our Lady of the Sacred Heart earned a share of its Class 2A section title.

Montour can reach the WPIAL playoffs with a Chartiers Valley win over Mars Friday night. Mark Carter scored 21 points to lead Montour to a 56-42 win over Mars Monday night, improving their record to 5-6 in section play. Montour is contending for a playoff spot. In other games, OLSH whipped Western Beaver and in girls play, the Chargers and Bishop Canevin won.
