Montour's baseball team defeated Connellsville, 8-0, Tuesday with Michael Ivanoff pitching a complete-game shutout. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart beat Carlynton, 10-0 and Bishop Canevin blanked Monessen 15-0. In softball, Montour, Moon and Bishop Canevin all won while Sto-Rox and Moon claimed flag football wins. OLSH prevailed in boys volleyball.

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart lost 13-7 to Steel Valley, Montour fell 9-0 to Canon-McMillan, and Moon Area narrowly lost 12-11 to Thomas Jefferson after a last-inning rally. Nick Machusko's four hits and five RBIs propelled Moon Area to a 16-6 win over South Fayette in a WPIAL baseball game. Elsewhere in baseball, Carlynton won and Bishop Canevin came up short. Moon Area and OLSH claimed softball wins while Montour and OLSH posted volleyball victories.

The Moon Area boys volleyball team lost twice in consecutive nights, first to Hopewell and then North Hills, both in straight sets. Despite a strong start against North Hills, they couldn't maintain momentum, leading to a disappointing sweep. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart opened its season with a win.
High school roundup: OLSH boys advance in PIAA soccer; Moon girls eliminated
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart boys soccer advanced to the PIAA Class 1A quarterfinals by defeating Bishop Carroll 8-0, with contributions from multiple players. OLSH will face defending champion Lancaster Mennonite next. In Class 3A girls play, Moon Area fell to DuBois, 4-2.
