High school swimming: Moon Area beats Butler, falls to Seneca Valley
The Moon Area boys and girls swim teams both lost to Seneca Valley Thursday night, a week after both squads beat Butler. Moon will host Pine-Richland Thursday in the final dual meet of the year and then host the Midwestern Athletic Conference meet Friday and Saturday.
High school swimming: Carlynton splits meets with Chartiers Valley, East Allegheny
The Carlynton swim teams faced Chartiers Valley in their final section meet, with the boys losing 97-57 and the girls 95-53. Evey Fahnestock and Cate Hites excelled with multiple wins, including relays. Harry Miller led the boys with two individual victories. Both teams showcased strong performances against East Allegheny prior.
Boys basketball: Montour, Bishop Canevin finish section play as unbeaten champions
The Montour Spartans, the WPIAL's top-ranked Class 5 boys basketball team, finished its section schedule unbeaten with a win over Moon Friday night. Bishop Canevin also completed its section schedule unbeaten.
Girls basketball: Moon downs Montour; OLSH, Bishop Canevin prevail
Jaedin Griggs scored 26 points and Maria Depner added 20 as Moon Area downed Montour, 58-45, Thursday night in a WPIAL Class 5A Section 3 matchup at Montour. In other games, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and Bishop Canevin won.
Boys basketball: OLSH whips South Side to keep section title hopes alive
Jake Johnson and Tiernan McCullough each scored 15 points to spark Our Lady of the Sacred Heart to a 54-26 victory over South Side Thursday night in a boys basketball game.
