Moon Area's bid to advance in the WPIAL Wrestling Team Championships came to a halt Wednesday night in a 54-11 loss to unbeaten Franklin Regional.
Rae Johnston posted a double-double to lead Sto-Rox to a 50-17 win over New Brighton in a girls basketball game at Sto-Rox. In boys action, both Sto-Rox and Cornell lost.
Montour used a strong third-quarter effort to erase a rare halftime deficit and beat Mars to clinch the WPIAL Class 5A Section 4 title in boys basketball. Also posting wins Tuesday night were Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Moon Area, Carlynton and Bishop Canevin. (Photos)

Moon Area defeated Peters Township, 37-26, Monday in the preliminary round of the WPIAL Class 3A Wrestling Team Championships. The Tigers will take on Franklin Regional Wednesday.
Ama Sow scored 32 points and grabbed 22 rebounds to help Montour beat Pine-Richland in the PBC Hall of Fame Classic Sunday. Moon Area also claimed a win over Bethel Park while Sto-Rox lost to Sewickley Academy.
The Moon Area Tigers will face Peters Township Monday evening in the preliminary round of the WPIAL Wrestling Team Championships. The meet will begin at 6 p.m. at Shaler High School.
