High school roundup: Moon starts baseball season with gem; local swimmers compete at PIAA
The Moon Area baseball team began the season with a no-hitter, defeating Archbishop Carroll 11-0. At the PIAA Swim Championships three West Hills swimmers competed and one of them -- Mimi Chamberlain of Cornell -- finished 10th overall in the 200 individual medley and Noah Pickett of Cornell placed 12th overall in the 100 butterfly.
PIAA wrestling: Moon Area’s Smarsh captures gold in her third crack at state title; Walzer, Thomas also medal
Haley Smarsh of Moon Area won a gold medal at the PIAA Individual Wrestling Championships, defeating Shannon Logue, 17-6. Smarsh has medaled three consecutive years. Teammate Bryce Thomas and Montour's Kristen Walzer also earned medals, finishing seventh and third, respectively.
