Friday Night Lights: Olds paces Bishop Canevin; OLSH hangs on to beat South Park; Moon, Montour lose

Damar Olds shone in a dominant Bishop Canevin victory over Serra Catholic, catching four touchdown passes and returning an interception for another score, leading the team to a 54-14 win. OLSH posted a narrow victory while Moon Area, Montour, Carlynton, Cornell and Sto-Rox all wound up on the short end of their games.

The Moon Area Tigers face a significant challenge as they visit unbeaten Peters Township for a crucial WPIAL Class 5A conference game. Moon is 1-0 in the conference after narrowly defeating Bethel Park. Six other games involving West Hills teams are on the Friday night schedule.

Liv DeGori of Moon Area secured fifth place in the WPIAL Class 3A girls golf tournament, qualifying for the PIAA tournament. Teammate Angelina Schild finished 10th and Aubrey Marasco was 25th. OLSH, Montour, Moon and Carlynton all posted girls soccer wins while Montour's boys also prevailed.

Jonah Schollaert secured the WPIAL Class 2A boys individual golf championship with a total score of 144, winning by two strokes. He will advance to the PIAA Championships, as will Bishop Canevin's Jamin Brock, who finished 17th.Other sports results include soccer, cross country, and volleyball matches.

Moon Area defeated Bethel Park 6-0, while Bishop Canevin edged South Allegheny 1-0 and Carlynton topped Freedom Area, 3-2. Eden Christian Academy triumphed over Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 3-2.

High school golf: Moon Area boys capture Tam O’Shanter title; area teams gear up for WPIALs

The Moon Area boys golf team nearly broke the tournament record at the Tam O’Shanter Invitational, finishing with a score of 291. Matthew Koch won medalist honors. Golfers from Moon, Bishop Canevin and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart will compete in upcoming tournament play.

In a game that went down to the wire, Moon Area triumphed over Bethel Park, 23-20, Friday night thanks to Evan Senkevich's 36-yard game-winning field goal with just 16.2 seconds remaining. In other West Hills area games, Montour, Bishop Canevin and Cornell all won while Carlynton and Sto-Rox lost.
