High school tennis: Montour duo set for action in WPIAL doubles tournament

Montour’s Jonah Camardese and Trey Varga, as the No. 12 seeds, face tough competition in the WPIAL Class 2A Doubles Championship against No. 4 seed Cody Clayton and Hunter Hazelwood of Central Valley, seeking to advance to the PIAA tournament.

High school sports: Moon softball falls to South Fayette; OLSH downs Carlynton

South Fayette defeated Moon Area, 8-4 , in softball, while Our Lady of the Sacred Heart triumphed 18-1 over Carlynton. In baseball, Bishop Canevin whipped Springdale, 11-1, and in boys volleyball, Montour and OLSH fell in reverse sweeps.

Macy Trost led Moon Area to a comeback victory over South Fayette, securing a 15-12 win despite being out-hit. The Tigers scored five runs in the sixth inning to pull out the win. OLSH rolled past Carlynton and in baseball both OLSH and Moon Area lost close games.

Cami Chambers' two-run homer in the seventh inning secured Moon Area's 4-2 walkoff win against Montour. The game featured a stellar effort from Moon's Katie DeMarco. OLSH whipped Burgettstown 14-4.

The Carlynton girls track team achieved victories against Brentwood and Chartiers-Houston. They had nine individual winners, including Jordynn Carter and Bridget McNamara, while the boys team lost a pair of close meets.
