High school roundup: Moon Area wins MAC wrestling title; OLSH falls in girls basketball

Moon Area dominated the 2026 Ed Driscoll MAC Wrestling Championships with three individual champions: Bryce Thomas, Liam Costa, and Michael Olszewski. Four other wrestlers placed second, and Montour and Carlynton also had competitors earn top finishes, showcasing strong performances overall.

High school sports: Montour rolls to girls basketball win; Moon swimmers sweep North Hills

Reese Vojtecky scored 14 points, leading Montour to a 61-26 girls basketball win over Lincoln Park Friday night. The Spartans established an early lead, dominating throughout. Meanwhile, Moon Area's swimming teams both secured victories against North Hills, improving their overall records in WPIAL competition. The girls are now 4-0.

High school basketball: Holiday tournaments keep West Hills schools plenty busy

The Moon Area boys basketball team defeated Largo (Md.) 72-66 in the Governor's Challenge tournament. Other boys winners in holiday tournament action were OLSH and Montour. In girls play, Montour, Moon, OLSH and Carlynton all prevailed.

Sto-Rox defeated Carlynton 57-30 in a boys basketball game Tuesday night, led by L.J. Washington and Marcus Griffin's combined 35 points. Bishop Canevin triumphed over McGuffey, while Aquinas Academy secured a win against Cornell. In hockey, Quaker Valley edged Montour 1-0, and Canon-McMillan overcame Moon Area 3-1, maintaining its division lead.

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart secured a convincing 52-17 victory over Sto-Rox in a WPIAL Class 3A girls basketball game, led by Lola Garner's 12 points. Montour also won against Mars 43-33, while Bishop Canevin defeated Clairton 35-25, and South Fayette triumphed over Moon Area 63-29.

Brooklyn Sykes scored 27 points, leading Sto-Rox to a 42-23 victory over Ambridge Saturday in the Pittsburgh Basketball Club Hall of Fame girls basketball classic . Montour defeated Hopewell 73-33, with Siena Palmer contributing 16 points. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart beat Keystone Oaks 39-24, highlighted by Lola Garner's 10 points.
