Our Lady of the Sacred Heart advanced in the WPIAL Class 1A boys soccer tournament with a 4-1 victory, led by Hunter Smith's two goals. Meanwhile, the Moon Tigers' title defense ended with a 1-0 loss to Thomas Jefferson, concluding their season at 13-6-1.
Both West Hills girls soccer teams won their WPIAL Class 3A tournament matches, with Moon Area defeating Oakland Catholic 3-0 and Montour edging Hampton 1-0. Carlynton lost to South Allegheny in WPIAL volleyball tournament action.
Three West Hills boys soccer teams began their WPIAL tournament, with Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and Moon securing victories. OLSH defeated Greensburg Central Catholic 14-1, while Moon Area won 4-0 over Laurel Highlands. Montour lost 2-0 to Franklin Regional, ending its season.
West Hills schools, including Carlynton, Montour, Moon Area and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, gear up for the WPIAL boys and girls soccer tournaments. Moon's boys seek to defend their title while the Tigers girls team look to maintain their winning ways.
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart secured a 5-0 victory over Aquinas Academy, clinching the Class 1A Section 3 boys soccer championship. Moon Area's boys and girls golf teams failed to advance in their respective championships, while Moon's girls cross country team excelled at the MAC meet.
Liv DeGori of Moon Area secured fifth place in the WPIAL Class 3A girls golf tournament, qualifying for the PIAA tournament. Teammate Angelina Schild finished 10th and Aubrey Marasco was 25th. OLSH, Montour, Moon and Carlynton all posted girls soccer wins while Montour's boys also prevailed.
Jonah Schollaert secured the WPIAL Class 2A boys individual golf championship with a total score of 144, winning by two strokes. He will advance to the PIAA Championships, as will Bishop Canevin's Jamin Brock, who finished 17th.Other sports results include soccer, cross country, and volleyball matches.
