High school sports: Moon baseball, OLSH softball can’t get untracked

Zach Miner led Peters Township to a 3-1 win over Moon Area, allowing five hits and one run while striking out five. He also contributed an RBI single. In softball, Howland defeated Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 3-0, highlighted by Madison Schmitz's inside-the-park homer and Brooke Tatar's strong performance.

High school sports: OLSH softball, Moon baseball pull out close victories; Carlynton track has solid debut

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart pulled out a 4-3 softball victory over Ursuline Friday in Tennessee while Moon Area held on in the final frame to beat Peters Township, 7-6, in a Class 5A Section 2 baseball matchup. Carlynton had success in both track and field and boys tennis.

High school softball: Montour, Cornell claim wins; Carlynton, OLSH, Moon come up short

Montour defeated Western Beaver 17-13, thanks to Shania Cope's four hits and five RBIs, including a home run. Cornell beat Carlynton 10-6 with Shaylee Barrett leading the way. OLSH fell 7-6 to The Ville, while Blackhawk claimed a 10-2 victory over Moon Area.

High school sports: OLSH baseball whips Steel Valley; Cornell, Montour softball fall

Thomas Medwig's three hits led Our Lady of the Sacred Heart to a 14-4 baseball win over Steel Valley. In softball, Thomas Jefferson defeated Montour 9-6 while Burgettstown defeated Cornell 19-3. In boys volleyball, Montour triumphed over Moon 3-2.

High school baseball: Moon rallies late to beat South Fayette; Bishop Canevin whips Sewickley Academy

Moon Area rallied for six runs in the sixth inning to pull out an 8-4 victory over South Fayette Tuesday in a WPIAL Class 5A Section 3 baseball game. Bishop Canevin, meanwhile, rolled to an easy win while Carlynton was blanked by Riverview.

High school softball: Bishop Canevin breezes past Springdale; Sto-Rox blanked

Lizzy Fuchs led Bishop Canevin to a 10-3 win over Springdale with four RBIs, including a two-run double. Ava Washington and others contributed to the scoring, while Macie McClain posted nine strikeouts. Leechburg defeated Sto-Rox 15-0, with Ava Ferretti driving in six runs and Addie Zanotto throwing a no-hitter.
