Riverhounds edge Detroit City, open USL Cup action Saturday at home

The Pittsburgh Riverhounds, eliminated from the U.S. Open Cup, will compete in the USL Cup against Greenville Triumph SC on April 25. The tournament features 43 teams in a World Cup-style format. The Riverhounds won their most recent USL match, 2-1, over Detroit City FC.

Montour defeated McKeesport 14-1, powered by Tyler Puffer's four hits and six RBIs, and Caleb Armbruster's four hits and five RBIs. Other games saw Moon winning 5-4 against Bethel Park and South Side rallying to beat Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 10-8. Moon and OLSH also secured softball victories.

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart overcame Fort Cherry's early 3-0 lead, eventually winning 15-3 in a softball game. Camryn Hummel dominated pitching, struck out six and hit a two-run homer. Montour also secured a commanding victory in its respective game and Carlynton rolled to a baseball victory.

Saturday, April 18, at Highmark Stadium, with the Hounds sitting eighth in the Eastern Division. Both teams were recently eliminated from the U.S. Open Cup.
