Three West Hills area school placed within the top eight at the Ed Driscoll MAC wrestling tournament held Saturday at Laurel High School. Cael Yanek of Moon took home the only individual title among local wrestlers.
Devonte Dean scored 24 points and Damien Holloway added 23 as Carlynton rolled past Sto-Rox in a WPIAL boys basketball game. Moon Area and Bishop Canevin also claimed wins while Montour's boys and girls games and Our Lady of Sacred Heart boys were postponed.
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart's girls basketball team lost for the first time this season Monday night, falling to Greensburg Central Catholic. Both Montour boys and girls posted tournament wins.
Moon Area's boys won its second tournament game in two outings in the OHSBCA Shot Clock Tournament in Canton, Ohio. Montour evened its Tampa Bay Invitational record.
MJ Thomas had a big second half to help Sto-Rox to a victory over New Brighton in the Ambridge Tipoff Holiday tournament. Moon also came away with a tournament win while Montour fell in Florida.
Moon Area had trouble getting started Sunday in the Pittsburgh Holiday Hoops Classic matchup with South Fayette Sunday at PPG Paints Arena, but the Tigers warmed up in the third quarter and pulled away for a win. Montour also prevailed at the same venue, whipping Lincoln Park.
Sto-Rox and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart came away winners Saturday in the Pittsburgh Basketball Club Girls Hall of Fame Classic at Ambridge High School. A big fourth-quarter doomed Montour in its loss to Allderdice. (Photos)
