Chad Minton’s ground out in the sixth inning secured a 6-5 baseball victory for Our Lady of the Sacred Heart over South Side. Bishop Canevin, Montour rolled to easy victories while Moon Area, Carlynton and Sto-Rox all lost.
Moon Area defeated Upper St. Clair 12-8 in a thrilling 12-inning softball game, highlighted by key performances from Abby Warnagiris, Cameran Chambers, and Katie DeMarco, while Zander Stern played a key role in Montour's 2-1 baseball win over Thomas Jefferson. South Fayette defeated Moon Area, 8-4 , in softball, while Our Lady of the Sacred Heart triumphed 18-1 over Carlynton. In baseball, Bishop Canevin whipped Springdale, 11-1, and in boys volleyball, Montour and OLSH fell in reverse sweeps.
Macy Trost led Moon Area to a comeback victory over South Fayette, securing a 15-12 win despite being out-hit. The Tigers scored five runs in the sixth inning to pull out the win. OLSH rolled past Carlynton and in baseball both OLSH and Moon Area lost close games.
Cami Chambers' two-run homer in the seventh inning secured Moon Area's 4-2 walkoff win against Montour. The game featured a stellar effort from Moon's Katie DeMarco. OLSH whipped Burgettstown 14-4.
Montour defeated Hopewell 10-4 in baseball, highlighted by Matteo Weber's two triples. Ellwood City defeated Sto-Rox, 8-2, while Chartiers Valley triumphed over Montour 17-2 in softball, led by Lily Duffill's sevem RBIs.
Our Lady of Sacred Heart achieved a doubleheader sweep over Brentwood in WPIAL baseball action Wednesday, winning 5-0 and 12-3, with standout performances from Iseia Fields-Schulz and Gino Williams in their respective games.
