Both Cornell and Sto-Rox dropped one-sided contests in a pair of WPIAL boys basketball matchups Tuesday night. Cornell fell to Avella and Sto-Rox lost to Washington.

Girls basketball: Hot start propels Moon past Mars; OLSH stays unbeaten in section play
Jaedin Griggs scored 22 points and Maria Depner added 20, and Moon used a hot first quarter to take control on the way to a win over Mars Monday night in a WPIAL Class 5A Section 3 girls basketball game. In Class 3A play, OLSH remained unbeaten by downing Riverside.
High school basketball: Carlynton, Moon, Bishop Canevin roll to wins
Devonte Dean scored 24 points and Damien Holloway added 23 as Carlynton rolled past Sto-Rox in a WPIAL boys basketball game. Moon Area and Bishop Canevin also claimed wins while Montour's boys and girls games and Our Lady of Sacred Heart boys were postponed.

Moon Area's boys won its second tournament game in two outings in the OHSBCA Shot Clock Tournament in Canton, Ohio. Montour evened its Tampa Bay Invitational record.
Boys basketball: Sto-Rox downs New Brighton; Moon grabs tournament win
MJ Thomas had a big second half to help Sto-Rox to a victory over New Brighton in the Ambridge Tipoff Holiday tournament. Moon also came away with a tournament win while Montour fell in Florida.
