Olivia DiGiacomo's two run-scoring singles in the first inning led Our Lady of the Sacred Heart to an impressive 15-0 win over Fort Cherry. Montour also secured a win in baseball over Chartiers Valley.
Freshman Rachel Stepp led the Moon Area track team at the Butler Invitational, winning the 400 meters, while boys lacrosse dominated Winchester Thurston. Moon tennis also secured a close victory.
Moon Area defeated Upper St. Clair 12-8 in a thrilling 12-inning softball game, highlighted by key performances from Abby Warnagiris, Cameran Chambers, and Katie DeMarco, while Zander Stern played a key role in Montour's 2-1 baseball win over Thomas Jefferson. Joelle Ludwick and Braiden Sudor, seniors from Montour and Bishop Canevin, respectively, received the WPIAL James Collins Scholar-Athlete Award, each earning a $1,000 scholarship for their academic and athletic achievements.
South Fayette defeated Moon Area, 8-4 , in softball, while Our Lady of the Sacred Heart triumphed 18-1 over Carlynton. In baseball, Bishop Canevin whipped Springdale, 11-1, and in boys volleyball, Montour and OLSH fell in reverse sweeps.
Macy Trost led Moon Area to a comeback victory over South Fayette, securing a 15-12 win despite being out-hit. The Tigers scored five runs in the sixth inning to pull out the win. OLSH rolled past Carlynton and in baseball both OLSH and Moon Area lost close games.
Cami Chambers' two-run homer in the seventh inning secured Moon Area's 4-2 walkoff win against Montour. The game featured a stellar effort from Moon's Katie DeMarco. OLSH whipped Burgettstown 14-4.
