High school basketball: Moon Area, OLSH, Bishop Canevin boys claim wins; Sto-Rox falls in OT

Moon Area boys basketball secured a 51-47 win against Taylor Allderdice Saturday, fueled by a strong fourth-quarter performance. Despite free-throw struggles, key plays by Jackson Bauman and Caleb Waclawski held off the Dragons. Other games featured wins by OLSH and Bishop Canevin while Sto-Rox Montour and Bishop Canevin girls lost.

Boys basketball: Bishop Canevin, Moon, OLSH claim section wins

Drew Allen's 27 points, including 12 in the final quarter, led Bishop Canevin to a 61-50 win over Keystone Oaks in WPIAL boys basketball action Friday night. Moon Area and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart also secured wins, while Thomas Jefferson edged Montour, 59-54. Carlynton, Sto-Rox and Cornell also lost.

Girls basketball: Bishop Canevin, OLSH roll to easy victories

Bishop Canevin defeated Avella 53-27, in WPIAL girls basketball action Thursday night, with Isabella Sysak scoring 23 points. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart triumphed over New Brighton 69-9, led by Camryn Hummel's 12 points. Sto-Rox, Carlynton and Moon Area all lost.

Bishop Canevin defeated Carlynton 83-53 in WPIAL Class 3A boys basketball, led by Drew Allen's 18 points. In other boys games, OLSH, Montour and Sto-Rox also secured victories in their respective section matchups, while Avella overwhelmed Cornell 55-13.

Rowan Winter scored 14 points, leading Our Lady of the Sacred Heart to a 55-35 win over Riverside in girls basketball action. In other girls games, Montour, Moon Area and Bishop Canevin all lost while in boys play, Moon and Sto-Rox prevailed. Montour lost in PIHL hockey action.

Moon Area dominated the 2026 Ed Driscoll MAC Wrestling Championships with three individual champions: Bryce Thomas, Liam Costa, and Michael Olszewski. Four other wrestlers placed second, and Montour and Carlynton also had competitors earn top finishes, showcasing strong performances overall.
